Zomato CEO Gives Update On “Pay Rs 20 Lakh” For Chief Of Staff Job Listing

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has announced that 18 exceptional individuals have joined Zomato and its affiliates, including Blinkit, after a rigorous selection process involving over 18,000 applications. These hires include founders, engineers, operators, and recent graduates.

Goyal emphasized the selection criteria focused on candidates with a long-term vision and understanding of “compounding impact.” Of the 18 hires, four work directly with Goyal, and two are Chief of Staffs.

Addressing previous controversy surrounding a Rs 20 lakh upfront payment clause in the job listing, Goyal clarified that none of the selected candidates paid any fee. He explained the clause was intended as a filter to identify serious candidates who valued rapid career advancement.

Goyal further stated that Zomato never intended to charge applicants and that most applications mentioning the payment were rejected. He also announced a new job opening for candidates who utilize artificial intelligence as a “second brain,” inviting applications with the subject line: “I have a second brain.”

The initial Rs 20 lakh clause, and the current search for AI-proficient individuals, highlights Zomato’s unique approach to talent acquisition.

A separate job posting seeks individuals who use artificial intelligence as their “second brain.”
